While a simple patriotic ditty, it would be useful
to understand what this little song actually means.
Doodle was slang for a man's penis.
Dandy was slang for a homosexual.
Macaroni refers to a macaroni club in London, a "molly club",
a club for homosexuals. It also refered to a small "tricorn"
hat worn by fops atop an exaggerted peruke, weak "fribbles"
that practiced sodomy.
What this suggests is that colonials of the Thirteen Colonies
need not fear a British army of invading red-coated homosexuals.
